Quick Drying Reticulated Foam for Boat Cushions
Reticulated foam is one of the more unique types of foam that we stock. This is a very popular type of foam used in the marine sector to make quick-drying foam boat cushions. The reason this type of foam is so popular is because of its unique cell structure which gives it the inherent ability to filter water through its core like a sieve.
When compared to regular polyurethane foam cushions, reticulated foam retains considerably less water after it becomes wet. It’s always important to keep foam dry but especially so on boats, where the risk of saturation is much higher. Wet boat cushion foam can break down much faster and can also develop mould/mildew.
To order cut-to-size reticulated foam boat cushions, follow our ordering process as you normally would and select reticulated foam when prompted to. Please note that we do not offer the choice of Dacron or stockinette with this particular type of foam.
If you’re interested in learning more about reticulated foam or would like to speak to our team about purchasing this for your boat, please get in touch by calling 01494 441177 or by using our contact form.
When Measuring for Replacement Boat Cushions
We usually suggest not to use your old foam when measuring for replacement boat cushions. Old foam can sometimes be misshapen which can lead to inaccurate measurements.
If you can, it’s better to measure your existing boat cushion covers. Once you’ve done this, you can enter the measurements into our foam cut to size calculator. Here, you’ll be able to get a quote for your new foam boat cushions.
Remember, if you need any help, we’re ready to assist you.

What Foam is Best for Boat Cushions?
There are numerous types of foam that can be used for boat cushions. One particularly popular type of foam for use on boats is reticulated foam. This is a special quick drying foam that retains much less water when compared to regular cushion foam. If you're unsure which type of foam is best for you contact us and we'll help.
Do I Need Reticulated Foam for Boat Cushions?
You don't necessarily need to use reticulated foam to make your boat cushions. A regular cushion foam should serve you just as well. Be mindful of how firm the foam that you choose is. For thinner cushions, it's a good idea to choose a firmer foam.
What's the Best Thickness for Boat Cushions & Mattresses?
Boat mattresses and cushion thickness can vary. Many boat mattresses can measure between 4 inches and 8 inches. A typical interior seat cushion can measure around 4 or 5 inches. If you can use old cushion covers or an existing mattress as a guide, this may help you to determine how thick you need your boat foam to be.
Do You Sell Boat Cushion Covers?
Right now, we only offer foam cut to size and shape for boat cushions. We do not offer any form of boat cushion covers. You may want to speak to a local professional if you need boat upholstery services.
